DTA and Clutter Magazine reserves the right to analyze any of the nominations or votes before determining an official nominee or winner

Eligibility

The Designer Toy Awards are open to all organizations and individuals involved in the designing, manufacturing, marketing, managing, commenting on and promoting the Designer Toy market and Art Toys. Entries must have been either released, in the case of products, or have shown use or activity, in the case of websites and artists, between March 1st 2011 and March 31st 2012. Call for Entries

Beginning April, 2012, Clutter Media Group will begin accepting entries for all categories of the Designer Toy Awards. Anyone is free to enter any individual or organization for consideration in any category, with the exception of the Lifetime Achievement Award (Lifetime Achievement Award is governed by special rules as listed below). Duplicate entries will be disregarded. The Designer Toy Awards will review all entries for proper eligibility, taking into consideration the release date or activity, the relevance to the submitted category, and any special considerations as specified in the category description(s) Entry consideration period closes on June 30, 2012.

Nominations

Beginning June 30, 2012, the Designer Toy Awards shall convene a series of nominating committees comprised of industry members vetted by Clutter Media Group. Nominating Committees shall be organized in a manner to reduce any conflicts of interest or potential partialities. The nominating committees shall review all eligible entries and vote to select five nominees in each category for Board-voted awards and ten nominees in each category for Community Choice voted award. These different award types are described the Voting section below.

Special Rules governing the The Lifetime Achievement Award: Rather than opening this award to public entry, Designer Toy Awards staff shall create a short list of potential recipients for the Lifetime Achievement Award. This short list shall be considered the list of nominees.

Nominations will be announced on the Designer Toy Awards Nominating Party, July 13, 2012, and placed on the Designer Toy Awards website shortly thereafter.

Voting

There are two different award types: Board-voted awards and Community Choice awards.

The Board-voted awards include Toy of the Year, Manufacturer of the Year, Breakthrough Artist, Outstanding Production, Best Customizer, Best Mini Series, Best Self-Produced, Best Collaboration, Best Licensed Product, Best Plush Design, Best 1/6 Scale Toy and Lifetime Achievement.

Community Choice awards include Best DIY Platform, Best Toy from a Comic, Best Collection, Best Toy Store, Best Online Toy Store, Fan Favorite, Best Blog and Artist of the Year.

Procedure for Board Voted Awards: The Designer Toy Awards Board features a carefully selected group of individuals who have been integral in the development of the Designer Toy industry. This Board shall vote on the nomination list, with one vote per Board member. The nominee with the most votes shall be considered the winner.

Procedure for Community Choice Awards: The eight public-voted awards are open for voting by the general public. The public can vote once per day in each category. Registration on the Designer Toy Awards website is required for voting. Each registered user may vote once per category per day during the open voting period.

Winners and Ceremony

The winners in each category shall be announced live at the Second Annual Designer Toy Awards ceremony in New York City, October 2012. Winners will be posted to the Designer Toy Awards website within a week of the ceremony event. Each winner shall be awarded a Designer Toy Awards trophy, designed by Pete Fowler.
