With two years of the Designer Toy Awards under our belt, we continue to learn and grow based on what we have found has worked and what has not. In response to some of the most common comments about our process, we've radically restructured the entire nomination, voting, and finalist procedure to help ensure quality winners while still garnering input from the entire community.

First off, we're making the eligibility period for nominees completely year based: if it came out in 2012, then it can be nominated for the 2013 DTAs. No more worrying about what month it was released in… if...

During the 2nd Annual Designer Toys Awards ceremony, held in New York City on October 13th, 2012, not all of the winners were able to be present so we had some of those we knew would be in abstentia record video acceptance speeches for us. Perhaps the most notable being Michael Lau's thank you video for winning "Best 1/6th Scale," which we didn't receive early enough to air that night:

The wonderful 2nd Annual Designer Toy Awards Ceremony at Providence NYC has just concluded and all the winners have been announced… the night was filled with rejoicing and enjoyment, but what you really want to know is: Who won what?

The 2nd Annual Designer Toy Awards' Ceremony — announcing this year's winners in each category — will be held in New York City on Saturday, October 13th, 2012 (during the weekend of New York Comic-Con). Hosted by The Sucklord, the event will be located at Providence NYC (311 West 57th St., New York, NY 10019) and the doors will officially open at 8PM.

The 2nd Annual Designer Toy Awards are proud to offer an exclusive edition release of the "Pandara" figure in the "Metallic Silver Edition." Hand-created and painted by Paul Shih, this release will be limited to 5 copies, only 3 of which will be for sale during the DTAs at $55 each… the remaining 2 in the edition will be released in late October on Shih's website.

The 2nd Annual Designer Toy Awards are honored to have a one-off Eyezon customized by Mark Nagata of Max Toy Co. to offer DTA Ceremony attendees. Titled "King Kong Eyezon," this piece has classic elements from the film done in Monster Kolor paints on the sofubi (soft Japanese vinyl) figure. This custom is unique and will be offered first come, first serve for $300.

This past July at San Diego Comic-Con, Mikie Graham released an edition of 10 Mini Jumping Brain customs based on the '80s anti-drug campaign "This is your Brain on Drugs" and all of them sold out in a snap! Due to the great response Mikie has decided to cook up one more batch of 15 brains for all the folks who missed out.

Out of the 15 customs, 5 will be going to NYCC and will be available for sal at the 2nd Annual Designer Toy Awards Ceremony, taking place on October 13th, at Providence NYC.
